Practical tools
Last reviewed: April 25, 2026
This section gathers small interactive utilities that come up again and again when reading about the United States or moving there: a quick distance converter and a searchable list of states and capitals. Both tools work offline once the page is loaded, do not require an account, and store nothing about you.
The interactive widgets currently live on the French side of the site, but their content is universal β abbreviations, capitals, and conversion factors are the same in any language. Each link below opens the working tool.
U.S. states, capitals & abbreviations
The 50 states with their capitals and official two-letter postal codes (CA, NY, TX, etc.). Useful for filling out forms, reading addresses, and understanding ZIP-code prefixes.
Open the toolMiles β kilometers converter
Convert in either direction. The factor (1 mile = 1.60934 km) shows up the moment you start typing distances in road signs, weather reports, or running apps.
